Your email server will be upgraded on September 24 with a brand new interface that looks sharp and is more user-friendly. We’ve refined the current list of functionalities on offer and added a few more. But that’s not all.

Your mailbox storage space has increased to a massive 100MB.

Along with loads of extra space, you’ll now enjoy personal control of spam and virus settings. And there’s multiple language support, Outlook Websync support and image blocking for your security. What’s more, you get whitelist and blacklist (nominated email addresses you always want to receive mail from and those you don’t) support and even auto-spellchecking within the Webmail interface.

Do you need to do anything?

Just a couple of things. From September 24, if you’re using webmail, you’ll now have to use your domain as part of your login. For example: ‘asample99’ becomes ‘asample99@quicksilver.net.nz.

If you check your email via a POP3 or IMAP client (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird or Eudora), you will need to make a one off change to the settings of your email account. This will only take a few minutes and you can find instructions specific to most email clients below.

Also, from September 24 all your email management will now be done via the ‘My account’ section on the Woosh website.

What looks different?
If you’re using webmail, your Inbox, trash, draft, sent and spam folders will still be there; they’ll just be in a more user-friendly format. Any other folders you may have created will appear in a folder called Personal’.

Other stuff you should know.
All email stored on the current server will be migrated. From September 24, if you check your emails using Woosh webmail your address book, signatures, forwards will automatically be migrated but your custom filters won’t be.

The current mail server will no longer be available after September 24 2008.

So it might be a good idea to take note of your filters beforehand so that you can easily set them up again on your upgraded email system. We hope you enjoy using the new, improved Woosh email server.
