Netgear Router (MBR 814) Firmware Upgrade for the PC Card/Router Combo

Thank you for responding to our request to upgrade your Netgear router (MBR 814) firmware. We are currently undergoing a network software upgrade which allows us to make improvements to your service.

NOTE: This is for customers using the Woosh PC Card and Netgear Router (MBR814) product only, and does not apply to any other Woosh equipment (ie. Wireless desktop P1D modem, Wired DSL equipment or the Netgear desktop router (WGR614) unit.)



What are the benefits in upgrading to the new firmware?
  • To fix several bugs from older firmware versions
  • To improve the PC Card/Router connection stability
  • To improve the router’s ability to connect to the Woosh network in the event of loss of signal or other outages
  • To improve the router’s ability to connect to the Woosh network in marginal signal conditions
What is the new firmware version and when was it released?
  • V1.3.9.8WH released 10 December 2008
What do I do to upgrade?
  1. Download, and save this file to your desktop ftp://anonymous@ftp.woosh.co.nz/netgear814_firmware/MBR814XUC_V1.3.9.8WH.img
  2. Open your Internet Browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer), browse to: 192.168.1.1
  3. Log in to the router by entering the default username and password below:
    Username: admin
    Password: password

  4. Click on the left hand navigation pane ‘Router Upgrade’ under the ‘Maintenance’ heading.
  5. Click ‘browse’ to locate and select the upgrade file (previously saved on your desktop), then click ‘upload’.
  6. A pop up message will appear to advise that your existing Internet Connection will be terminated. Click ‘ok’ to continue.
    The upgrade process will take a couple of minutes and must not be interrupted.
  7. Once the firmware upgrade is completed, click ‘OK’ to re-connect.
If your router does not automatically connect to the Woosh network within 2 minutes, please unplug the router power source and plug it back to restart the router.
