Software Installation Instructions

P1D Modem
These drivers are only designed for Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows 98SE. You can download the P1D Modem section of the Woosh Quick Reference Guide here.

NOTE: Do not connect your Woosh Modem until instructed to!

Quick Instructions: Download the modem_soft.exe file, and run it. It will extract files to a temporary directory, and then start the Modem software installation. Follow the instructions to complete the installation of the Modem drivers and Woosh Broadband dialler application.
Step by Step Instructions
1) Download the modem_soft.exe file, and save it to your Desktop
2) Once downloaded, double-click the modem_soft file, and click 'Next'
3) Click 'Extract' to unpack the necessary files to a temporary location
4) At Confirmation, click 'Yes' to run the Modem setup application
5) The installation wizard will start, and you will be presented with the Woosh License Agreement - read this and then click 'Accept' to continue.
6) You will then be asked which cable will be used to connect your Woosh Modem to the computer: either the Woosh Modem USB cable, or the Woosh Modem Ethernet cable. Choose one and click 'Next'.
7) The installation will process some files, then a Digital Signature Warning will be shown. This is OK - click 'Next'
8) Click 'Continue Anyway' to continue installing the Woosh Drivers
NOTE: You may be asked more than once - ensure you click 'Continue Anyway' each time
9) You will be asked to connect the P1D modem to your computer, which will be automatically detected and setup by your computer, which may take up to 30 seconds
10) Click 'Next' to connect using the Broadband Dialler which will pop-up and connect automatically 11) You will be taken to the Woosh Register page in your browser
12) In the 'Login' section, enter your full Woosh username and password, then click 'Login'
13) Click 'Next' to complete the Registration (if the dialler pops up again, just leave it)
14) You should see an Install Complete message
15) You may be asked to Reboot - if you do not wish to Reboot now, you will need to Reboot before you try and connect using the Modem again

When you want to connect using the Modem again, ensure it is powered on by checking that the Power button is lit up, and your modem cable is connected to your computer, then double-click on the Woosh Broadband Modem Dialler icon on your Desktop and click 'Connect'

PC Card Modem
The PC Card drivers are only designed for Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows 98SE. You can download the PC Card section of the Woosh Quick Reference Guide here.

NOTE: Do not insert your Woosh PC Card until instructed to!

Quick Instructions: Download the pccard_soft.exe file, and run it. It will extract files to a temporary directory, and then start the PC Card software installation. Follow the instructions to complete the installation of the PC Card drivers and Woosh Broadband dialler application.
Step by Step Instructions
1) Download the pccard_soft.exe file, and save it to your Desktop
2) Once downloaded, double-click the pccard_soft file, and click 'Next'
3) Click 'Extract' to unpack the necessary files to a temporary location
4) At Confirmation, click 'Yes' to run the PC Card setup application
5) The installation wizard will start, and you will be presented with the Woosh License Agreement - read this and then click 'Accept' to continue.
6) The installation will process some files, and then ask you to insert your Woosh PC Card into your laptop
7) Once the PC Card is firmly inserted, click 'Next'
NOTE: You may need to improve your signal by using the external antenna provided with your PC Card
8) Your computer will automatically detect and setup your PC Card
9) Click 'Next' to connect using the Broadband Dialler which will pop-up and connect automatically
10) You will be taken to the Woosh Register page in your browser
11) In the 'Login' section, enter your full Woosh username and password, then click 'Login'
12) Click 'Next' to complete the Registration (if the dialler pops up again, just leave it)
13) You should see an Installation Complete message
14) You may be asked to Reboot - if you do not wish to Reboot now, remember to Reboot before you try and connect using the PC Card again

When you want to connect using the PC Card again, firmly insert it, and once one or both of the lights are lit up, double-click on the Woosh Broadband Modem Dialler icon on your Desktop and then click 'Connect'

PPPoE Setup
PPPoE drivers are already included in both Mac OS X (version 10.3.8 and higher) and Windows XP operating systems. You will need a Woosh P1D modem and a Woosh Modem Ethernet cable.

NOTE: The Woosh Modem will need to have been 'flashed' before using PPPoE. If the modem has been connected to the Woosh Network before, it will have been flashed already. If the Modem does not appear to work correctly, it may not have been flashed: please contact the Woosh Contact Centre on 0800 4 WOOSH (0800 4 96674) or Auckland 09 9400 111.

Mac OS X Instructions (version 10.3.8 and higher)
1) Power on the Modem and connect it to your computer using the Ethernet Cable. Ensure that the cable's green light is lit
2) From the Apple menu, select 'Location' > 'Network Preferences'
3) In the 'Location' drop down box, select 'New Location'. In the Name field, type 'Woosh'. Click 'OK'
4) In the drop down list next to 'Show' click 'Built-in Ethernet'. Select the 'PPPoE' tab, and tick the 'Connect using PPPoE' box
5) In the 'Account' box, enter your full username (including '@woosh.co.nz') and password
6) Click 'PPPoE Options', and tick 'Connect automatically when required'. Also untick both 'Prompt to stay connected if idle...' and 'Disconnect if idle...'. Click 'OK'
7) Click on the 'Ethernet' tab. Select 'Manual' from the 'Configure' drop down box. Tick 'Custom' on the MTU option, and enter 1458 into the available box
8) Click 'Apply Now'

Windows XP Instructions
1) Go to 'Start' > 'Run' and type in 'ncpa.cpl', and click 'OK'
2) Go to 'File' > 'New connection', and then click 'Next'
3) Select 'Connect to the Internet', and click 'Next', then select 'Set up my connection manually' and click 'Next'
4) Select 'Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password', and click 'Next'
5) Type in 'Woosh PPPoE' as the ISP Name, then click 'Next'
6) If you are asked about Connection Availability, it is recommended you select 'Anyone's use', then click 'Next'
7) Type in your full username (including '@woosh.co.nz'), and your password (twice to confirm it) and click 'Next'
NOTE: If this will not be the usual method of connecting to the Internet, untick 'Use this account name and password when anyone connects' and 'Make this the default Internet connection'
8) Click 'Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop' then click 'Finish'
9) In 'Network Connections', right-click the new 'Woosh PPPoE' connection and click 'Properties'
NOTE: Go to 'Start' > 'Run', type 'ncpa.cpl' and click 'OK' if this is not still open
10) Go to the 'Options' tab, and from the box beside 'Idle time before hanging up' choose 'Never', and tick the 'Redial if line is dropped' box
11) Download this set_pppoe_mtu.reg file and save it to your Desktop. Once downloaded, double-click it, and choose 'Yes' when asked, then 'OK'
